Throughout these 30 years, our purpose has been to ensure safety and efficiency when issuing, owning and trading securities. In addition, we have also been contributing to the financial stability in Norway. Our primary focus has always been to cater for efficiency, quality and safety. Reliability is also part of what we strive for in our daily work. Development of new and improved services for our customers has been given principal attention during all these years.
We have now started a process to renew large parts of VPS’s operations. To prepare VPS for future challenges, we have started renewal programme VPS 2.0 which will include i.a. IT systems, market practice and a new license. For the latest information on VPS 2.0, please see the separate article in this newsletter.
Despite the fact that VPS 2.0 requires many resources, we have been able to develop two new services for our customers. We have recently launched a new share ownership programme and a new fund trading module. Both services are designed for investors and the two articles have extensive coverage of their respective benefits.
In cooperation with key players in the Norwegian and Nordic securities market, we will for the first time this year arrange a post-trade seminar here in Oslo on 22 September. I urge everyone in the industry to register for Post Trade Norway in order to attend this premier event. Do not miss out on the expert speakers’ opinions on what currently take place in the the securities market. In addition to Post Trade Norway, we will of course attend this autumn’s most important events for private investors, de store Aksjekveldene. The first one starts on 7 September in Tromsø and the grand finale takes place in Stavanger on 16 November.
It is impossible to predict where VPS will be in another 30 years, but in any case I can say that during 2017 we will operate under the new European license, we will offer new services and we will still have skilled and dedicated employees. We hope that this will give our customers added value and greater user experience when using our services.
Sincerely yours,

John-Arne Haugerud
Chief Executive Officer
