What is an LEI? LEI is a legal entity identifier used to uniquely identify legally distinct entities that participate in financial transactions. An LEI is a 20-digit, alpha-numeric code.
Why do I need an LEI? A legal entity (organisation) needs an LEI in order to participate in financial transactions. A list of the current regulations can be found here.
Will Euronext Securities Oslo issue LEIs? No, Euronext Securities Oslo will not issue LEIs.
Where can I obtain an LEI? We recommend you contact Euronext Dublin, our preferred Local Operating Unit (LOU) for all your LEI service needs.
When will I need the LEI? If your organisation is an issuer of a financial instrument or it is a participant of the VPS securities settlement, the LEI must be reported to Euronext Securities Oslo before the CSDR enters into force. For further information about LEI regulations, click here.
How long will it take to issue an LEI? Euronext Dublin endeavor to provide your new LEI code in 3-5 business days, provided all documentation is in order. If you need an application expediated, please contact the LEI team who are happy to assist.
What is the cost of obtaining an LEI? Euronext Dublin charges an up-front fee to issue an LEI. This fee varies depending on whether a single or multiple LEIs are applied for. There is also an annual charge for renewing the LEI code and maintain it at a status of Issued. A breakdown of Euronext Dublin LEI fees can be found on our Euronext Direct customer portal.
