The proposal involves the introduction of a share savings account where gains can be reinvested without being taxed on an ongoing basis. VPS has been a driving force for such a solution and we will, in collaboration with our clients, clarify how investors will get access to such a savings scheme in the longer term.
This autumn, we at VPS have met many clients and other players in the securities industry. It is important for us that all the clients have been introduced to the new VPS Road Map. We continue to arrange regular meetings in order to inform about our deliveries. VPS Road Map is included in VPS 2.0, the renewal programme, and you can read more about the deliveries we have made in the article in this newsletter.
We are also very pleased to observe that the courses for account operators are in great demand. We have arranged courses for account operators for both issuers and investors, where we give a thorough introduction to the respective VPS applications. We actually had to arrange additional due to the exceptionally high interest.
Tax is always an important topic in the securities context. VPS is pleased to share our expertise in the field, and we therefore organised a tax seminar together with the Norwegian Tax Administration in October. If you are interested in withholding taxes or other topics related to tax, you will have the opportunity to see the presentations (in Norwegian only) from the tax seminar here.
As in previous years, VPS is also this autumn hosting the annual events for private investors, den store Aksjekvelden, together with AksjeNorge. This event is very popular, and we experienced record attendance in Bergen. I encourage everyone to take the opportunity to participate in the final event this autumn that takes place in Oslo on 14 November. During the coffee breaks we will present fondstorget.no, a new platform developed by VPS.
Both at VPS and in the securities industry in general, we use many acronyms and special expressions in our everyday language. Many words have been taken from the English language. There is, however, one VPS expression that actually has become an international concept for those working with Norwegian securities – the FLUB. If you would like to know what it means to FLUB, read the article in this newsletter.
Sincerely yours,
John-Arne Haugerud
