As the only CSD in Norway, VPS has a license to operate a securities depository and is, as such, subject to strict rules for the safekeeping of the securities. Safe, efficient and reliable registration of financial instruments governs everything we do in our daily efforts when protecting the investors’ rights.
The Investor department of VPS develops and manages solutions that in an easy, safe and effective way enable the account operators to assists the investors. Account operators, i.e. banks, investment firms and fund managers, are managing investors and their VPS accounts through the web application VPS Investor Services (VPS IS). Some are also using our standardised machine interface with their proprietary systems or data warehouses.
We also provide the investors with a comprehensive overview of their securities at VPS Client Services. The service is founded on the investor’s right to access information on all registrations pertaining to the person concerned in the securities register – which also involves information cross account operators. The main purpose of the service is to secure electronic self-service. The service has been refined over time to include a number of services that have been demanded by the market. Through VPS Client Services we are today distributing a wide range of services that streamline the value chain of the financial market, and more services will be launched in the near future.
The department is among other things responsible for a variety of messages sent to investors (Notifications of Change, annual statements etc.) and we manage the solutions that ensure safe receipt of the messages both electronically and by surface mail.
Additionally, the annual tax reporting to the fiscal authorities is very resource-demanding. The main focus at the present time, however, is the major renovation programme VPS 2.0. The new core system and the renewal of retail solutions are both intended to position VPS for the future and provide new and better services to both the account operators and the investors.

Aleksander Nervik is heading both the Investor and the Issuer departments at VPS. Gunnar Haug is Senior Advisor for tax and knows most of the business inside out. In his footsteps follows Hallgeir Stuenes who has a background as an architect and project manager in VPS. Lise Malterud is managing VPS IS and is currently also concentrating on the renewal of the core system. Liv Kari Kristiansen is also working with the new core system, but is additionally involved in both Share Savings and the Master User routine. Tom Andersen and Bjørn Antonsen have both worked at VPS since the 80s. They administer all the investor solutions and ensure a smooth operation of the products. André Johansen is responsible for new services and is spending time on product development, strategy, research and project management.
